Following the opening of the B&Q stores at Erith and Dartford we lodged protective appeals. Such a double impact is unusual, but the effect on trade taking into account the statutory assumptions applied in rating suggested that allowances should be considered. Negotiations with the Valuation Officer commenced and having reviewed the trading impact on Wickes store, other DIY operators in the area including Homebase and indeed other B&Q properties nearby allowances were agreed with the Valuation Officer of 25%, saving Wickes £47,875. |
