We were instructed by Mendip District Council Regeneration Department to advise on the provision of affordable housing on this site, comprising an historic 18th-century former workhouse building together with the adjoining residential development site. The building, last used as a mental institution, had been vacant for many years and posed significant development problems, including the requirement for large-scale asbestos removal. We advised the Council in respect of the Supplementary Planning Guidance and the requirement and financial implications of prospective developers to provide affordable housing on the site. |
