GL Hearn Major Projects team advise on ambitious development plans for Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Trust

GL Hearn's Major Projects team, led by Ben Stalham, Planning Director - Head of Major Projects, has been advising Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation on expansion plans, including the Evelina London Children’s Hospital in Lambeth.

The team's advisory role to the Trust provides overarching planning advice, securing detailed planning consents for new development and assisting with the selection of delivery partners to realise the Trust’s vision for the hospital.

“We are delighted to continue assisting Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust on the delivery of these fantastic projects.” Ben commented. “It has been a privilege working with the Trust for the past two years to help bring these projects forward and support the creation of a new model for healthcare delivery. We are now very excited to be supporting the delivery stage of these developments.”

The £400m hospital expansion will ensure the second largest provider of childcare services in London can continue as a centre of excellence for the advancement of research and treatment, providing life-changing care for children, young people and their families.

“It has been an amazing experience securing planning permissions on behalf of Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.” Anna Blackwell, Planner in the Major Projects team, commented. “I have had to navigate complex planning requirements including world heritage sites, tall buildings, the London view management framework, listed buildings, conservation areas, archaeology, and referral to the Mayor of London, while working on schemes with major public benefits.”

These projects continue our relationship with the Trust that commenced in 2010, following our selection as planning advisor for the award-winning new Cancer Centre at Guy’s Hospital.
