GL Hearn is advising on all aspects of the Development Consent Order process for new nuclear, including associated development sites and land/compulsory purchase order for the project.

The role also involves consultation with National Grid in connection with the North West Coast Connections DCO. This role covers the overall strategy for consenting, including the ES and DCO Consultations and draws upon the five years’ experience of the senior GL Hearn Director – Ian Shrubsall, whilst seconded to the EDF Energy new nuclear project at Hinkley Point.

The provision of strategic planning advice to the client, NuGen, requires industry leading expertise in planning policy, legislation centred on the Planning Act 2008 (as amended in 2011 and 2013), consultation implications, EIA considerations in a variety of specialist areas and the ability to reconcile and negotiate competing planning contribution requirements as part of the mitigation strategy.
