Derek Kidd

Derek is a chartered valuation surveyor specialising in business rates, and leads GL Hearn’s business rates team in Scotland.

Derek joined GL Hearn in 2017, and has since represented and advised national clients in rating matters across their Scottish portfolios. He has secured savings on their behalf through negotiation and litigation and has a proven track record of achieving results for landlords, tenants and occupiers.

Throughout his career, Derek has valued a range of subjects for business rates from high profile retail, office and industrial developments, to specialised properties such as museums and shipyards.

He previously worked with the Scottish Assessors where he was involved in working groups influencing valuation policy and is currently a member of the RICS Rating and Local Taxation Group (Scotland).
