Independent property consultant GL Hearn, in partnership with the British Property Federation, has launched the Second Annual Planning Survey. The survey is aimed at understanding how the recent planning changes have been received by both the public and private sector and how might the system be improved.

The survey is seeking the views of all those involved in the planning system and will be open for entries until 16th August. The results of the survey will be presented at a breakfast seminar in London on 17 September. The seminar will compare results with last year’s inaugural survey and provide an opportunity for the attendees and speakers to discuss the ever evolving planning system. Speakers include representatives from DCLG, the GLA, Land Securities and the London Borough of Croydon.

Shaun Andrews, Head of Investor and Developer Planning at GL Hearn, commented: “Last year’s survey provided some compelling evidence that there is an appetite for further reform to the planning system particularly that which will reduce planning delays, the costs associated with ‘planning gain’ and that which will deliver greater certainty for investors.

“This is the second year that we have undertaken this research and a fascinating picture is expected to emerge of a rapidly changing and dynamic development sector. It will be interesting to gather further views and opinions from those working within the confines of the current planning system to see how their perspectives have changed since last year’s survey was carried out and what new trends or conclusions we can draw from this new data.”
