Third Sector’s Business Charity Awards 2015 recognise the contribution made by UK companies and their staff to charities and social enterprises.

There are 18 categories this year, including awards for Business of the Year, Outstanding Employee, Best Charity Partnership and Business Charity Champion.

Anne-Marie Kesselman, Head of Marketing and Corporate Responsibility has been shortlisted for the Business Charity Champion award. The award is for a business leader who has excelled in promoting corporate support for charities in his or her own company and across the private sector.

In 2005 Anne-Marie began fundraising in earnest for good causes, such as local school playground projects and then took on more ambitious schemes, including the refurbishment of the Starfish children’s ward at Watford General Hospital.

She has gone on to create and develop private sector partnerships with a number of charities including Watford Mencap, Young Enterprise and led the refurbishment of the residents’ lounge at the Harrogate Homeless Project.

Fundraising for the homeless has been a constant theme of Anne-Marie’s charitable activities and most recently GL Hearn received recognition for the Pro Bono and fundraising initiatives undertaken to support Providence Row, the charity dedicated to tackling the root cause of homelessness.

GL Hearn’s fund-matching policy enables all staff to amplify their fundraising for the charity sector and the business has a volunteering policy that allows staff to apply for volunteering. This year over 60 are taking part in the national day of volunteering ‘Give and Gain Day’.

Commenting on the news GL Hearn Managing Director Brian Sloggett said:

‘Anne-Marie has somehow found time to maintain support for charities and balanced this with the demands of the day to day priorities heading the marketing team at GL Hearn.‘

Pam Orchard, CEO at Providence Row added:

“Anne-Marie has been a fervent champion for the charity, from coordinating the overarching partnership to galvanising company employee support. It’s like she a member of the team and is a real pleasure to work with.”

More about GL Hearn’s work with good causes can be found in a recent report “People or Profits-Why not both?”
