29 September 2014

On 26th September GL Hearn celebrated Jimmy Hearn’s 40 year career with past and present directors and colleagues.

Jimmy’s retirement brings an end to the Hearn family working at GL Hearn. This began in 1923 when Jimmy’s great uncle, George Leonard Hearn started the business from an office at 84 Leadenhall Street, London EC3. Jimmy’s father, Claude Geoffrey Hearn, became Senior Partner in 1955 following the death of George Leonard. Claude was succeeded in 1986 by Eric Davies who led the firm until 1998 when Jimmy took over as CEO.

Jimmy Hearn had previously joined GL Hearn in 1974 to work in the thriving Business Rates team which was dealing with the large volume of work created by the 1973 Revaluation. Whilst Business Rates remained his core area of expertise, Jimmy also covered Landlord & Tenancy, Valuation and Property Management.

As CEO, Jimmy led the incorporation of GL Hearn & Partners to GL Hearn in 1999. Stepping down from the position as CEO in 2002, he remained on the Board, holding positions of Financial Director and Non Executive Director until 2012.

Commenting on Jimmy’s retirement Managing Director Brian Sloggett said:

“On behalf of all past and current staff at GL Hearn, I wish Jimmy a very happy and long retirement. Jimmy’s experience and leadership have been instrumental to the business. I would like to thank him for his central contribution to our current success.”
