John Wasilewski

Qualifications: Bsc (Eng) CEng MICE MAE John has over 40 years’ professional experience of building and civil/structural engineering investigation, design, construction and remediation/renovation, of which ten years with contractors and seven years in the Middle East, Far East & elsewhere.

John’s early career was with Costain, Harris & Sutherland and John Mowlem – in Britain and Abu Dhabi. He worked in the planning, design and construction of road and rail bridges, building structures, port and harbour structures, deep excavations, heavy temporary works, reclamations and general earthworks. He rejoined Harris & Sutherland in 1979, working in the Hong Kong office for 5 years, designing bridges, retaining walls, earthworks, building structures (steel and concrete, low and high-rise), deep excavations, reclamations, maritime structures, and numerous types of building foundations. John returned to London to design a 36-bed hospital and a range of building structures, foundations renovations and conversions.

He has been instructed as expert by most of the leading construction law firms over the last 20 years, and has given expert evidence on building defects, structural failures, foundation problems, landslips, and design and construction disputes. John also has experience as a construction adjudicator.
