Associate Director - Infrastructure Planning

Michael is a chartered town planner with 10 years’ experience, working as a consultant and client-side on a variety of infrastructure projects. He has a strong working knowledge of the Planning Act 2008, Environmental Impact Assessments, planning policy frameworks, development control procedures, s106 negotiations and community engagement.

A competent project manager, Michael has co-ordinated the submission of successful planning applications for minerals, waste, and energy projects across the UK. He has also provided planning and stakeholder support to nationally significant infrastructure projects for clients including NuGen and National Grid.

As part of the Moorside Nuclear Power Station DCO, Michael was embedded into the NuGen team and was responsible for the development and implementation of the consenting, transport, and accommodation strategies for the Moorside Project. The role involved ensuring all planning requirements and other related consents were comprehensively scoped, communicated and delivered in accordance with strategies. Project managing and coordinating input for internal teams and external consultants throughout various stages including scheme development, consultation, and lead up to submission. Engaging and negotiating with key regulators and stakeholders regarding project definition, Statement of Common Grounds, Section 106 Agreements, and other local matters.
