New build 8,500m² STEAM Academy to provide a new landmark centre of excellence on Bridgend College’s Pencoed campus. We provided Project and Cost Management services. We were appointed through the NPS Property Consultancy framework.

• The building is a new landmark 8,500m2 2 storey STEAM Academy.
• The building brings some new function to the College but also the relocation of Engineering from its Bridgend campus to Pencoed. This is part of the College’s masterplan to rationalise and improve its estate.
• Capita has been appointed jointly as Project Manager and Cost Consultant.
• Capita has also been appointed as BREEAM Assessor under a separate commission.
• The new facility will provide Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
• When fully utilised the building will cater for circa 1000 students.
• The Pencoed campus is a former Agricultural College and before that, a farm estate, so the setting for the new building is rural in picturesque heavily landscaped setting.
• It is intended that some of the buildings function will be opened to the general public outside of college hours to bring both additional income and closer local ties.
