Supporting STEM and WISE

At GL Hearn we understand the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) in the work that we do. We are also a member of WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) and have created a WISE committee from volunteers across the business.

We have over 60 STEM Ambassadors who volunteer their time to help support students in their local communities to understand the value of STEM disciplines and share their experiences of the exciting projects that you can get involved in through this career path.

Our ambassadors work closely with schools and colleges across the country to present and deliver hands on activities to bridge the long-standing STEM skills shortage across the UK. We are particularly committed to encouraging women to take up STEM subjects at GCSE level and into further education to enable them to embark on STEM related careers.

The WISE committee have created a ’Ten steps action plan’ for improving recruitment, retention, and progression of women in our organisation and are working to ensure thy are fully embedded in the business

The Ten Steps is an ambitious, industry-led campaign to ensure that women in STEM have the same opportunities to progress in their career as their male counterparts.
