Darren Haselhurst

Darren is located in GL Hearn’s Sunderland office and is responsible for High Street retail, office and industrial properties in the north and east of England, together with assisting the leisure and hospitality team in the north-east.

Darren joined GL Hearn in January 2013 as a Business Rates Associate Director in the Sunderland Office having previously been a Senior Associate at Storeys Edward Symmons in their Teesside office.

Since joining GL Hearn, Darren has held responsibility for High Street retail, office and industrial properties in the north-east; Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire locations. This has included both appeal and rates mitigation advice together with appearances at valuation tribunal on behalf of national clients.

Darren has advised local and national private sector clients as well as public sector clients in respect of the 1990 list through to the current 2017 rating list initially in the north-east of England but more latterly the north and east across a large variety of properties including retail, industrial, office sectors as well as public houses, hotels, schools and colleges and local authority operated properties.

Darren has acted as RSA Chairman and appeared at a number of valuation tribunal hearings and dealt with appeals to the Upper Tribunal (Lands Chamber).
