were initially instructed by One Housing Group in December 2012 to undertake a Red Book valuation of Acton Town Hall for acquisition purposes. The Group’s proposal was for a change of use to residential and conversion and extension of the Grade II listed Acton Town Hall alongside a four storey new build element.

The site was complex and had a number of key heritage issues such as the potential ‘harm’ associated with a new storey on the existing building.

During the planning process various GL Hearn teams provided advice.

  • Our Planning team acted as planning consultant for the Group and managed the various sub-consultants.
  • Our Strategic Communications team advised the client on political, media and public relations matters relating to the planning application.
  • Our Affordable Housing team provided valuation advice throughout the planning process including a number of option appraisals to maximise value and ensure the scheme is deliverable.

LB Ealing resolved to grant planning permission and Listed Building Consent on 13 May 2015 for a change of use and redevelopment to provide 71 residential units.
