GL Hearn supports Good Parks for London for a third year running

04 October 2019

We are delighted to continue our support for the Good Parks for London report. Not only is it a celebration of the extraordinary number and the outstanding quality of London’s parks, it acts as a benchmark for the kind of London we would all like to see.

Working in partnership with Parks for London - the charity committed to safeguarding London's green spaces - our multi-disciplinary team enabled the report's production, putting together it's design and contributing to the analysis.

The report considers the approach that London Boroughs are taking towards their parks and green spaces, evaluating them against ten criteria: public satisfaction, awards for quality, health and wellbeing, sustainability, events, supporting nature, skills development, community partnerships, collaboration and strategic planning.

Martin Kelly, Head of Planning said: "Parks are the often-hidden oases in a 24/7 city that give us all a chance to reconnect with our more social, meditative or athletic selves. The great parks have become London landmarks in their own right, of course, but the report also shines a light on the lesser-known parks and the great work that London Boroughs do, month after month, to provide green spaces that add to the quality of life of so many Londoners and visitors.

As a leading planning consultancy, we are in the business of helping to shape the urban landscape through environmental and sustainable design innovation to create memorable places in which people want to invest, live, work and play. The proximity of a park is always seen as the blue ribbon and their existence attracts interest and involvement from commercial and residential developers who bring rejuvenation to so many areas across the capital; stimulating local economies, creating employment and providing much-needed housing stock."
